… and upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal].

Hebrews 1:3

Our world runs and functions on laws and principles the Lord had set in place right from the start. The earth rotates simply because of God’s laws. People need to earn a living which is a biblical principle set in place right from the start. This is to keep us from sitting back simply expecting God to do all the providing.

It’s amazing that it is often something as simple as a principle that can hold us back from making a meaningful contribution to the Kingdom of God. You might have a deep desire to contribute to the Kingdom of God, but failure to grab hold of the principles will stop you from doing just that.

How sad it is that we have so many people who are caught up in a mind-set that believes they are an exception to the rule. In their minds and hearts, they believe that they are above certain principles and yet without them recognizing it, their contribution is greatly stifled.

God has set principles and laws in place and He makes no exceptions for anyone. Those that think they are allowed to, don’t know and understand the nature and character of God.

In the ministry you often find individuals who want to stand behind the pulpit to preach God’s word, yet in the area of serving behind the scenes they are simply nowhere to be found. How can God possibly honour such an attitude? Even Jesus, while walking on earth, said to those around Him that He didn’t come to be served but that He came to serve them.

Jesus did nothing outside of the natural laws and principles that was set by the Father. In fact as you look and study the life of Jesus, He did nothing without first checking in with his Father.

Believe it or not, but growing up Jesus worked and rested too. He didn’t sit back waiting for the ripe old age of 30 years before getting up and going out to do various miracles and good works. Like all people, He too did what others were called to do.

Therefore, the greatest contributor to the Kingdom today forever remains the Lord Jesus Himself. We are simply called to live and do as He did.

My friend, it might be a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, having to recognise that each and every one of us has to go through life being governed by these laws and principles. While many simply don’t like them, they keep us humble and realistic about what we are all called to do.

No person is above the other. What is applicable for you and me is applicable to all those around us. If today you discover that you are failing in certain areas of your life or failing to make a meaningful contribution to the Kingdom, ask Holy Spirit to help you understand which principle you might just be missing.

God isn’t going to open the next door until you are willing to line yourself up with His principles.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father. How perfectly everything functions according to the principles you have set in place for it. May my life consistently line up behind these principles. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
